Curiae Virides is a research project investigating how judicial and social activism can address gaps in ecological governance and challenge traditional approaches to liability and remedies. Funded by the European Research Council through the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, the project is associated with the Brussels School of Governance. Its work examines legal responses to ecological conflicts and the role of courts, communities and transnational accountability in shaping environmental governance.
The project shares its research through publications, blog articles, public appearances, workshops and other events. Its online content explores topics including corporate sustainability due diligence, the social and environmental consequences of “green” initiatives, and the connections between law, art and ecological conflict. Curiae Virides also convenes stakeholders and supports discussion of environmental litigation across different regions, including Asia. The project’s website provides information about its team, research outputs, news and events, offering a public resource for people interested in the evolving relationship between law, activism and ecological justice.
