Elizabeth Cushing

Cushing Design Co. is a boutique heritage consulting firm based in Windsor, Nova Scotia, helping property owners restore and renew historic places with respect for their history. Led by Elizabeth, the company combines experience in heritage planning and preservation with a thoughtful, sustainability-focused approach. Its work serves owners of historic homes, commercial and institutional buildings, and landscapes, balancing historical integrity with modern needs and practical implementation.

Services include heritage-informed interior and exterior design guidance, restoration planning, historically appropriate material and colour selections, architectural salvage integration, and support with heritage approvals. Projects begin with a complimentary site visit to discuss the work, document the building, and understand its history and architectural character. Cushing Design Co. can also coordinate with contractors during implementation.

The company also sources, restores, and preserves salvaged historic building materials and architectural antiques, helping clients find pieces suited to their projects. By championing local craftsmanship and reusing materials where possible, Cushing Design Co. aims to create authentic, enduring spaces while reducing environmental impact.
