COCOON is a pioneering initiative focused on enhancing the cybersecurity of modern Electrical Power and Energy Systems (EPES) within the European Union. With the increasing decentralization and digitalization of energy infrastructure, COCOON addresses the urgent cybersecurity challenges posed by the convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT). The project aims to develop a practical cyber-physical systems solution that ensures a secure, resilient power grid capable of withstanding threats highlighted by geopolitical events.

Key offerings include the COCOON Programmable Network (CPN) for streamlined data management and a robust Early Warning System (EWS) designed for real-time monitoring and operator training. Additionally, COCOON will deliver innovative methodologies for threat detection, including the identification of both known and zero-day exploits using advanced data analysis techniques.

Backed by a consortium of esteemed institutions, including the University of Cyprus and Delft University of Technology, COCOON leverages interdisciplinary expertise to significantly bolster the EU's energy resilience and cyber-physical protection standards.
