CybSoc

The Cybernetics Society is a learned society founded at King’s College London in 1968 to advance education and the understanding of cybernetics, both as a pure discipline and in practical applications. Based in London, it brings together people interested in how complex systems behave, including researchers, practitioners and members of the public. Its interdisciplinary scope spans artificial intelligence, engineering, design, biology, ecology, psychology, economics and organisational governance.

The Society offers monthly online Cybernetics Live seminars and an annual conference, alongside recordings of seminars and conferences on its YouTube channel. Its open-access, peer-reviewed journal, Enacting Cybernetics, explores practical approaches to the field with an emphasis on transdisciplinary work. Members and visitors can also access educational resources such as a glossary, reading lists, videos and a member directory. The Society awards the professional credentials MCybS and FCybS, respectively for Member and Fellow. Membership is open to anyone interested in cybernetics and systems thinking, with annual subscriptions starting at £30.
