About CYEC
The Children and Youth Empowerment Centre (CYEC) is a brand that focuses on providing residential and educational programs for former street-dwelling children and youth in Kenya. Located in Nyeri, Kenya, the CYEC houses and supports over 130 children and youth between the ages of 6 and 22. The Center's mission is to ensure that all young people are equipped with the necessary resources and skills for a happy and healthy life.
The CYEC offers a comprehensive Residential Program, including essential items and balanced meals for the children, as well as healthcare services. Education is also a priority, with primary school attendance required and opportunities for vocational training for secondary school-aged youth. Additionally, the CYEC encourages the development of youth-run businesses through Zawadi Youth Enterprises, providing micro-lending programs and support for financial independence.
The CYEC is primarily funded by Zawadi Fund International and collaborates with various partner organizations.
