Cynthia Amoah

Cynthia Amoah is a Ghanaian-American poet, writer, national speaker, and teaching artist whose work explores identity, belonging, migration, displacement, and the experience of being uprooted. She earned an MFA from The New School, where she was recognized for excellence in poetry. Her performances have appeared on three TEDx stages, at The Lincoln Theatre, and at the United Nations Information Center in Accra, among other venues. Her chapbook, Handrails, was published by Akashic Books in 2021.

Cynthia offers spoken-word poetry performances, keynote speaking, and writing workshops for audiences and participants of varied backgrounds and experience levels. Her performances use poetry to inspire connection, encourage self-expression, challenge perspectives, and build community. In workshops, she helps writers explore creative techniques, develop their craft, and discover their voices. She also facilitates sessions in positive thinking, confidence-building, and using voice as a source of strength and social change. Based in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Cynthia works with schools, organizations, and event audiences, bringing an engaging, personal approach to each setting.
