Welcome to the North Cyprus Society for the Protection of Turtles (SPOT). Founded in the late 1980s by British expatriates Ian and Celia Bell and local philanthropist Kutlay Keço, our organization initially focused on conserving sea turtles. However, over the years, we have expanded our research and projects to include various areas of marine life conservation.

Our flagship project, the Marine Turtle Conservation Project (MTCP), is a collaboration between SPOT, the University of Exeter's Marine Turtle Research Group, and the North Cyprus Department for Environmental Protection. Through this project, we strive to protect and conserve marine turtles in the region.

In addition to sea turtles, we also work on projects involving Monk Seals, Fisheries, Dolphins & Whales, Sharks & Rays, Bioinvasives, and Pollution. We conduct extensive research, conservation efforts, and awareness campaigns to safeguard these marine species and their habitats.

To achieve our conservation goals, we rely on the participation and support of volunteers, sponsors, and donors. Whether it's volunteering on nesting beaches, making financial contributions, or reporting injured or dead marine animals, every form of contribution makes a significant impact on protecting North Cyprus' marine life.
