About Carbon Zero Challenge @IIT Madras
Carbon Zero Challenge (CZC) is a transformative initiative led by IIT Madras, aiming to tackle pressing global issues such as climate change, pollution, and resource depletion. Established in 2017, CZC is an all-India eco-innovation and entrepreneurship contest that empowers individuals and startups to develop pioneering clean technologies and circular economy solutions in key areas like air, energy, materials, soil, and water. The program's motto, "Ideate, Innovate, Incubate," encapsulates its mission to foster an ecosystem where aspiring entrepreneurs can create impactful solutions for environmental challenges.
CZC has successfully engaged over 200,000 individuals, received 2,300+ innovative ideas, and trained more than 4,000 participants. With significant financial support awarded to emerging startups, CZC continues to incubate talent and promote sustainable practices. The initiative advocates for resource conservation and conducts eco-conscious events, setting a benchmark for sustainability in every step. By blending innovation, entrepreneurship, and environmental responsibility, Carbon Zero Challenge is actively shaping a sustainable future for generations to come.
