D5 Bodyboard Shop is owned by the Cruickshank family, a group of five passionate individuals from Newcastle, Australia. With over 25 years of experience in the sport, they are deeply involved and committed to the bodyboarding community. It all began when Johnny, one of the family members, was introduced to bodyboarding by his older brothers.

He joined the local Bodyboard Club, which sparked his competitive side. In 1999, Johnny achieved great success by winning the Men's Regional Titles, NSW State round, and ultimately becoming the Men's National Champion. In 2003, he reached the pinnacle of his career when he was crowned the Australian Bodyboard Tour Champion.

Alongside their love for bodyboarding, the Cruickshank family has expanded their horizons by working and traveling with legendary bodyboarder Mike Stewart. In 2011, they opened D5 Bodyboard Shop, enabling them to support riders and clubs along the coast. This dedication has earned them recognition, with the family being awarded The Spirit of Bodyboarding by Surfing Australia and Surfing NSW in 2017.
