D & B Ranchette Dachshunds and Bunnies is a long-haired dachshund breeder based in Summerfield, Florida. The breeder aims to raise high-quality puppies suited both to the show ring and to life as beloved family companions. Its approach reflects the belief that breeding for show standards can support sound structure, including correct backs, hips, head shape, and bites—features the breeder associates with healthier, longer lives.
Although D & B Ranchette does not show its dogs to earn ribbons or championships, it participates in shows so professional judges can evaluate its dachshunds and provide families with an independent assessment of their quality. The breeder uses Embark genetic testing to screen for 177 canine mutations, including dachshund-specific health risks, and to assess inbreeding, coat color, and other traits. Embark is described as a research partner of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and the official dog DNA test of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
The website provides information about adult dogs, anticipated litters, available and reserved puppies, contracts, and fees.
