Starbucks, the globally recognized coffee chain, has a remarkable history and numerous intriguing details that many are unaware of. Founded in 1971 in Seattle, Starbucks has grown from a modest coffee shop to a corporate giant with a presence in 63 countries worldwide. The company's name itself is derived from the character Starbuck in Herman Melville's famous novel, Moby Dick.
Initially, co-founder Gordon Bowker wanted to name the company Pequod but settled on Starbucks after some deliberation. Starbucks' round tables, a common feature in their stores, are designed to create a sense of warmth and belonging, as rounded corners are believed to be more inviting. With over 31,000 stores worldwide, Starbucks is present in major cities like Seoul, New York, Shanghai, London, and Chicago.
Next time you visit Starbucks, take a moment to appreciate the thoughtfulness and attention to detail that goes into creating its unique ambiance
