About Dallas History
Dallas Historical Society is a preeminent organization dedicated to preserving and exhibiting the rich heritage of Dallas and Texas. Established in 1922, it collects and preserves over three million items, including archives and artifacts, which are showcased through educational programs, exhibitions, tours, and research access at the Hall of State in Fair Park. With a commitment to diversity and inclusion, the society aims to present the inclusive history of the city by incorporating various perspectives.
Each year, it welcomes over 160,000 visitors and serves more than 20,000 students through guided tours and educational programming. Besides managing the Hall of State and presenting public programs on Dallas and Texas history, the society organizes historic city tours and hosts special exhibits. By sharing the stories of Dallas, the Dallas Historical Society inspires and educates present and future generations about the diverse history of the city and state
