Dance & Arts Therapy New Zealand (DTNZ) is a charity supporting the wellbeing and development of communities across Aotearoa. Its professional dance movement and creative arts therapists provide group and individual services that use movement and art to encourage personal growth, healing, connection and positive change. DTNZ works with tamariki, rangatahi and tāngata whaikaha, as well as people of all ages experiencing mental distress or recovering from trauma. The organisation supports around 3,000 people and delivers approximately 5,600 therapy sessions each year.
Programmes include ACC trauma recovery support, therapy in schools, community groups, individual therapy, parent workshops and corporate wellbeing support. Regular group classes operate across Auckland, Waikato, Wellington, Canterbury and Otago, with tailored sessions available nationwide subject to therapist availability and clinical demand. STARS offers term-based sessions for neurodivergent and disabled children and youth. Dance 4 Us serves neurodivergent and disabled adults and rangatahi, while Arts 4 Us provides free, term-time creative art groups for primary and secondary students.
