Danketsu

Dojo Danketsu is a Kyokushinkai karate dojo based in Capelle aan den IJssel, welcoming students aged six and older. Its approach combines traditional karate with functional training, placing equal emphasis on physical and mental resilience. Classes explore realistic karate and modern self-defence, with attention to posture, confidence, awareness and de-escalation. Sportiness, enjoyment and safety are central to the training environment.

The name Danketsu is a Japanese word associated with unity, solidarity and togetherness, reflecting the dojo’s aim to make everyone feel welcome. Respect and healthy movement are also core values. Training takes place on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings, with class times varying by age group. Prospective students can arrange a trial lesson, and membership fees can be paid quarterly or by season.

Danketsu works with the Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur to help children access sport, including support with fees and equipment such as a karate uniform. Adults who need financial assistance are also invited to get in touch.
