Den selvejende institution Dannevirke

Dannevirke is an independent children’s and young people’s residential care institution in Haderslev, Denmark, with its own special school. It provides a coordinated environment in which residential care, education and social pedagogy work together toward shared goals. The institution can accommodate up to 24 children and young people, aged 0 to 22, across four home-like residential units. Small communities, familiar routines and consistent adults are intended to provide stability and a safe foundation for development.

Dannevirke offers placements under sections 46 and 47, supportive interventions under section 32, and youth support under section 113. Its school provides special education for pupils from grades 0 to 9, tutoring programmes, clear learning objectives and preparation for the Danish Folkeskole leaving examination. The institution describes relationships as central to its approach and systematically documents each child’s progress, supporting development at an individual pace. Its stated values are that relationships require action, freedom brings responsibility, and development needs direction.
