About Dan Ostrander Books
Dan Ostrander Books presents American history through the decisions, challenges, and leadership of U.S. presidents. The site features books by Daniel (Dan) Ostrander, a retired history professor who taught at Butte College for 38 years and writes about presidential leadership and pivotal events in American political and economic history. Ostrander has interacted with nine presidents and co-authored works with former presidents Gerald R. Ford and George H. W. Bush, bringing firsthand perspectives to his historical analysis.
The collection includes The War Powers Resolution: A Constitutional Crisis?, by Gerald R. Ford, which examines the balance of presidential and congressional authority over military action. Another featured title, Read My Lips: No New Taxes, explores the 1990 budget deal and includes a foreword by George H. W. Bush. George W. Bush and the 2007–08 Financial Crisis considers presidential decisions during the economic crisis alongside a brief history of America’s economic development. Books are presented in print, ebook, and audiobook formats.
