DanWorks

DanWorks is the independent venture of Geerten Beumer, a sailor, hands-on maker and product designer based in the Netherlands. Founded to bring a variety of products to market and take on practical assignments, the business combines creative development with sailing, woodworking and general maintenance work.

Its first product in development is Noordwaarts, a sailing-themed card game. Players use wind-direction and sailing-course cards to navigate toward the north as quickly as possible. Following extensive testing, the game mechanics are largely established, and Beumer is developing the card designs with illustrator and artist Fenna Noordenbos. The planned launch will use crowdfunding, with later sales through the DanWorks website and, ideally, game shops.

DanWorks also offers sailing-related work, including skippering, instruction and boat maintenance, drawing on experience with sailing boats, yachts and traditional flat-bottomed vessels. Its woodworking services include furniture-making and carpentry, with an interest in sustainable, craft-based methods. Other assignments range from solar-panel installation and repairs to building, demolition, vehicle and watersports-equipment maintenance, and delivery work.
