DARA is an independent non-profit organization that has been supporting principled humanitarian action for over fifteen years. Established in 2003, DARA is dedicated to enhancing the quality and effectiveness of humanitarian efforts in the face of armed conflict and natural disasters. Through thorough evaluations, research, and policy studies, they provide invaluable analyses and findings to help humanitarian actors improve their performance.

DARA's work goes beyond simply providing information. They also encourage organizations to reflect on the impact of their work and make evidence-based decisions at the policy, strategy, and programming levels. In addition, DARA actively promotes humanitarian principles, learning, accountability, and supports innovative approaches.

With a presence in over 60 crisis-affected countries, DARA has identified several key areas where there are gaps in the delivery of humanitarian response. These include a lack of respect for humanitarian principles and space, the encroachment of political and military actors, unpredictable and uneven funding, and insufficient attention to the role of local actors. As an independent organization, DARA is registered in Spain and has 501(c)(3) status in the United States.
