Daraja Deutschland

Daraja Deutschland e.V. is a German nonprofit organization supporting children in Kenya through education, healthcare, and food assistance. Founded as a project in 2012 and registered as an association in 2019, it focuses on children from families living in extreme poverty, for whom school costs can make education inaccessible even when primary schooling is free. The organization works in partnership with local schools rather than building or operating its own facilities, helping avoid the expense of school staff and other running costs.

Daraja offers education sponsorships that support children through to graduation, and it helps cover medical care. It also provides project-specific support for needs such as school fees, books, sports equipment, mattresses, and meals. By paying overdue fees, the organization can help children qualify to sit examinations and receive their school-leaving certificates. Daraja places particular emphasis on enabling girls to attend school, viewing education as a way to expand their future opportunities and independence.
