Dark Horse Equestrian | Newtown is a brand born out of one person's passion for horses and a simple comment. In 2014, our founder, Leela, started making her own high visibility leg bands and received positive feedback from a friend while riding together. This sparked the idea to create and sell these unique items online.

Armed with a borrowed sewing machine, Leela began making and selling small high visibility items, laying the foundation for Dark Horse Equestrian. The name Dark Horse was chosen because it represents a previously unknown person or thing that emerges to prominence, against all odds. This resonated with Leela, who wanted to succeed in the equestrian industry despite her working-class background.

Over the years, Dark Horse Equestrian evolved, offering fashionable and affordable high visibility products. In 2019, we expanded into equestrian clothing, providing high-quality goods at affordable prices for all shapes, sizes, and budgets. Each design is created with simplicity and a timeless appeal in mind.
