About Darkness RISING Project
Darkness RISING Project is a nonprofit organization at the intersection of the arts and mental health. Their mission is to use music as a powerful medium to speak openly about mental health. Led by Broadway performers with lived experiences, Darkness RISING offers free wellness workshops, guest speakers, and a Music & Mental Health Video Series.
They organize the Darkness RISING: Live Black mental health block party, where the Black community can come together and access free mental health resources. Their services include the REBUILD program, which connects formerly incarcerated people of color to therapists of color and provides up to 10 free therapy sessions. Additionally, they offer the Find Me a Therapist service, assisting community members in finding culturally competent therapy by connecting them with Black therapists.
Darkness RISING also provides a Black Mental Health Provider Database and a Black Mental Health Resource Packet, offering directories, websites, apps, podcasts, and more. Through music and art, Darkness RISING aims to bring healing, support, and comfort to those navigating mental health challenges
