About Darley in Europe
Darley, founded by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is a renowned global thoroughbred stallion operation that currently stands stallions in six countries worldwide. With its headquarters at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket, the historic home of racing, Darley has a rich history in the thoroughbred industry. The brand's lineage can be traced back to three exceptional stallions who shaped the English Thoroughbred: the Byerley Turk, the Darley Arabian, and the Godolphin Arabian.
These founding fathers have left an enduring legacy, with 95% of modern thoroughbred racehorses tracing their lineage back to the Darley Arabian alone. Inspired by the Darley Arabian, Sheikh Mohammed named his breeding operation after this legendary stallion. Beginning with his first winner, Hatta, in 1977, Sheikh Mohammed's passion for horses and racing grew, leading to the establishment of Godolphin in 1992.
