Database Coevorden

Database Coevorden is a growing digital archive devoted to the history of Coevorden and the villages that belonged to the municipality before its reorganization. Bringing together material from followers, partners, volunteers, and people interested in local history, the site helps visitors explore the area’s past through an expanding collection of thousands of historical newspaper articles, photographs, and other records.

Its searchable database covers a wide range of subjects, including residents and family history, businesses, cemeteries, streets, buildings, schools, associations, events, local politics, wars, books, and periodicals. Visitors can also discover memories shared by followers, historical links, videos, and podcasts featuring stories about Coevorden’s past. A key feature is the way the archive connects information across categories—for example, linking people with addresses, associations with events, and photographs with historical documents—to make research more meaningful and accessible.

Whether tracing ancestors, investigating an old street name, or learning about community life, visitors can use Database Coevorden as a starting point for discovering the region’s history.
