Data Saves Lives is a multi-stakeholder initiative led by the European Patients’ Forum (EPF) and the European Institute for Innovation through Health Data (i~HD). Their primary goal is to raise awareness about the importance of health data, improve understanding of its use, and establish a trusted environment for dialogue among stakeholders across Europe. They have launched a web portal that provides relevant information, best practice examples, and materials explaining the concept of data sharing, the data journey, and safeguards in place.

All content is reviewed by an independent editorial board and user group to ensure accuracy and accessibility. Data Saves Lives aims to foster trust and cooperation within the health data community. Their vision is to support health and scientific research by creating a European Health Data Portal that builds awareness and understanding of the importance and use of health data in Europe.

The initiative is supported by a multi-stakeholder core group and an advisory board consisting of various health data community stakeholders. Funding for the initiative has been provided by the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) and EIT Health.
