David Guttman

David Guttman is an engineering leader, author, and community organizer who helps founders build effective engineering teams. Through his company, Superstruct, he supports businesses in building products and platforms with engineering recruiting, candidate vetting, onboarding, and management. The company specializes in developing distributed teams and sourcing talent worldwide.

Guttman’s leadership experience includes serving as VP of Engineering at Outlier.org and CTO of Interlincx, as well as working with and leading teams at Disney and AT&T Interactive. He is the author of The Superstruct Manifesto: A Survival Guide for Founders Who Depend on Devs to Get Things Done, along with the JavaScript books Fullstack Node.js and Fullstack React.

He also organizes Spec.LA, a monthly gathering where hackers, makers, artists, and inventors share their work and ideas. His appearances and contributions include podcast hosting and guest interviews, as well as writing about engineering practices, including the article “Deep Work vs Daily Standup” for OpenTeams.
