David O'Connell Memorial Fund

The David O’Connell Memorial Fund is a memorial organization established in remembrance of David O’Connell, a Port Matilda volunteer firefighter and Boy Scout who died by suicide in 2021 at age 16. The fund supports young people serving their communities in Central Pennsylvania through scholarships for junior firefighters and junior first responders. Its focus reflects David’s involvement with local volunteer emergency services and scouting.

In years when scholarships are not awarded, the fund directs donations in his name to the Port Matilda Volunteer Fire Company and BSA Troop 32, organizations of which he was an active member.
