David Salariya is an author, illustrator, artist, graphic designer and creator of visual books for children and young readers. For more than four decades, he has developed ideas from early sketches into books and publishing concepts, combining writing, illustration, design, history and humour to make complex subjects accessible and memorable.
In 1989, Salariya founded The Salariya Book Company, an independent children’s publisher for which he created and developed more than fifty publishing concepts. These include the internationally recognised You Wouldn’t Want To Be…, A Very Peculiar History and Spectacular Visual Guides series. His books have been published in more than thirty-five languages.
Today, Salariya continues to write, draw, paint and develop publishing projects. He also writes about creativity, design, copyright and the processes behind how books are conceived, produced, credited and rediscovered. His website features articles on children’s literature and publishing, including fact-checking and editorial practice. Salariya is a member of the Independent Publishers Guild and the Society of Authors, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
