David Sorgato Galleria is a Milan-based specialist in antique Oriental carpets and textiles, continuing a family tradition that began with the opening of Umberto Sorgato’s gallery in 1967. With three generations of knowledge behind it, the gallery combines historical expertise, international contacts and a strong focus on authenticity and provenance. Its collection includes antique carpets from Anatolia, the Caucasus, Persia and Central Asia, selected for their condition and historical significance.
The gallery is particularly known for small-format rugs, suited to contemporary interiors or display as works of art, and for its research into antique Tibetan knotted carpets. David Sorgato has studied a wide range of weaving traditions and is an expert on carpets for Wannenes auction house. The gallery also draws on relationships with established international dealers and access to rare pieces from Italian private collections.
