About Action for Happiness
Action for Happiness is a non-profit movement that coordinates the global celebration of the United Nations International Day of Happiness. Supported by like-minded organizations from 160 countries, this campaign aims to shift attitudes towards prioritizing human happiness and well-being over economic growth. Established on March 20, the International Day of Happiness has been recognized by all 193 United Nations member states.
In 2011, the UN General Assembly acknowledged happiness as a fundamental human goal, leading to the adoption of a more inclusive and balanced approach to economic growth. Since then, the campaign has grown each year, with different themes and initiatives. From celebrating Happy Heroes in 2013 to encouraging authentic happiness in 2014 and focusing on relationships in 2015, Action for Happiness strives to create a better world by connecting people, reclaiming happiness, and promoting authentic well-being.
