Daytona State College is dedicated to student success and offers a wide range of support services through their COMPASS program: Coaching, Mentoring, Persistence, and Student Success. This initiative aims to provide intentional and proactive support to first-year, first-time AA degree-seeking students. Academic coaching and mentoring are offered to help students overcome potential barriers and connect them with the resources they need to thrive academically and non-academically.

Upon applying to the college, students are assigned academic coaches who will guide and support them throughout their entire first year. Coaches connect with students via texts, calls, and appointments to address their academic and non-academic needs. Additionally, mentoring sessions are provided during enrollment in SLS1122, a required course for all AA degree students.

Daytona State College's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) focuses on coaching and mentoring to foster a sense of belonging and mattering for students. The success of the QEP is measured through various assessment measures, including student outreach, response rates, surveys, and withdrawal rates. The QEP aligns with the college's strategic plan, which emphasizes academic excellence, student success, community partnerships, and institutional effectiveness.
