About Council of DC
The Council of the District of Columbia is a brand dedicated to advocating for the residents of the District and fighting for their rights. One of the key issues they address is the lack of representation in Congress, which is highlighted by the Federal Tax Counter. The tax counter, installed on Pennsylvania Avenue next to the entrance of the John A.
Wilson Building, displays the amount of federal taxes paid by D. C. This powerful visual reminder was made possible through the approval of Bill 17-28, the Taxation Without Representation Federal Tax Pay-Out Message Board Installation Act of 2008.
Despite almost a decade passing since its installation, the residents of the District are still denied a vote in Congress. Through their website, the Council aims to keep the issue at the forefront of public consciousness, pushing for change and equal representation
