About Perinatal Mental Health
The DC Metro Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative (DCPMHC) is a dedicated non-profit organization founded in 2009 by mental health professionals Barbara Byers, MD, and Aimee Danielson, PhD. Based in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, DCPMHC is focused on addressing the unique emotional and psychological challenges faced during the perinatal period. The collaborative consists of over 100 members, including psychotherapists, psychiatrists, and researchers, all committed to enhancing perinatal mental health care through education, advocacy, and community support.
DCPMHC provides training and resources for professionals in the field of reproductive psychiatry, infertility, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. They aim to reduce the stigma surrounding these issues, promote awareness, and ensure early identification and treatment of mental health concerns. Through quarterly learning opportunities and collaboration among members, DCPMHC is dedicated to advancing access to high-quality mental health care for individuals and families navigating the complexities of the perinatal experience.
