DCR-Defense provides firearms education and training in South Carolina, with a focus on safe handling, practical skills, and understanding current laws related to concealed and open carry. Its programs serve learners at different experience levels, from beginners seeking basic instruction to individuals preparing for a South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP).

The organization offers SLED-approved CWP classes for South Carolina residents, as well as one-on-one and couples’ private lessons, a beginners’ basic firearms course, and weapons-cleaning instruction. Training is led by Daryld Scott, a certified NRA pistol instructor and SLED-certified concealed weapons permit instructor. He has assisted with CWP classes since the early 2000s and provides individual training around South Carolina.

DCR-Defense emphasizes continued support beyond the classroom, reflecting its motto that students are never alone after completing a CWP class. Classes and appointments are arranged through the business, which is based in Columbia, South Carolina. Weapon rental and ammunition are sold separately.
