About State Maritime and Port Agency
State Maritime and Port Agency is a public legal entity established based on the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, on Measures to Improve the Management in Maritime Transport on October 11, 2021. It operates under the Digital Development and Transport Ministry.
The agency is the result of the merger of the State Maritime Agency, the Dangerous Goods Security Center of the Sea Transport, and the Transport and Technical Support Authority. State Maritime and Port Agency actively participates in the formulation, implementation, and development of state policies in the field of maritime transport within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It regulates and controls the sector, ensuring the safety of maritime transport, protection of human life and health at sea, and the preservation of the marine environment.
The agency also plays a role in the state regulation of activities in the sea ports and provides services related to the safety of maritime transport, such as navigation and lighthouse services, pilotage, channels, and shipbuilding.
