Through a historical and documentary perspective, it traces the city’s development from 1964, when its maritime connections made it a strategic supply base for northwestern Spain, and the opening of the refinery created a new point of departure for the surrounding region. The project considers how the refinery became a defining influence on people’s lives and the city’s evolution, and how two generations adapted as industry grew within the local environment. It also examines public perceptions of the refinery’s planned relocation: in late 2013, Repsol and the Port Authority of A Coruña agreed to move its facilities to the Outer Port within five years, an announcement welcomed by many residents.
