Stichting ‘De 5 van Greup’ commemorates five men who were executed during the German occupation of the Netherlands in 1941. Its work focuses on preserving and sharing the story of events following the emergency landing of a British Wellington bomber near Greup on 7 August. After local residents helped the six airmen, German authorities arrested fourteen men from the area. Six were later released, while five men from Greup were sentenced to death and shot on 19 September. Their final resting place remains unknown.
The foundation provides historical information about the incident and the people affected, including accounts of the arrests, trial and aftermath. Its website features news, video footage, a memorial, and material about individuals connected to the events. It also shares podcast episodes with interviews and personal stories, helping visitors learn about the history through community perspectives. A commemorative site in Greup marks the story; the aircraft came down about 1,200 metres northwest of the memorial.
