About Deaf Studies Institute
Deaf Studies Institute is a foundation founded in February 2020. Our main focus is on research in sign language, education for deaf children, youth, and adults, as well as providing expertise in the field of deaf studies. The institute works towards several goals, including cultural, educational, and scientific activities related to sign language, the education of deaf individuals, and social adaptation.
We engage experts from academic backgrounds and deaf individuals for research, methodological, and educational activities. Our institute also supports positive initiatives in deaf education across different age groups, organizes specialized courses in special education and sign language, and provides methodological and practical support to governmental institutions in decision-making processes regarding Bulgarian sign language and the education of deaf children and youth. We initiate or support charitable initiatives to secure funding for educational activities and assist in the inclusion and adaptation of deaf individuals into Bulgarian society through educational and informational initiatives
