DearLep is an innovative digital platform dedicated to the rich biodiversity of Taiwan's Lepidoptera, which includes butterflies and moths. Featuring nearly 5,000 known species, the website aims to bridge gaps in the existing classification systems and provide comprehensive data on both butterflies and moths. Initially developed under the auspices of the Biodiversity Center at Academia Sinica, DearLep offers a wealth of resources, including a species catalog, high-quality images, and ecological information for each species.
Users can interact with a continuously updated database that includes identification tools, species descriptions, and extensive imagery, making it easier for enthusiasts and researchers alike to explore the intricate relationships between species and their host plants. The platform not only serves as a scientific resource but also aims to enhance appreciation of Taiwan's natural heritage. As it evolves, DearLep seeks community feedback to improve its offerings, creating a collaborative space for sharing and discovering the fascinating world of Taiwan's butterflies and moths.
