Death Education

Bonita Ralph is a facilitator and host who helps individuals, professionals and communities build death literacy through education, conversation and shared reflection. Her work presents death as a deeply human part of life and encourages people to explore the beliefs and experiences that shape how they approach dying, grief and care. Death Education covers both practical considerations, such as the care of the body and relevant rules, and the emotional, spiritual, cultural, familial and ritual needs that can arise during the transition.

Bonita offers support for people who are dying, carers, children and young people, and professionals. Her activities include regular Death Cafes at Princes Hill Community Centre in Carlton, small-group Death Conversations about death, planning and ritual, and collaborative workshops for public and private groups. Through these services, she creates opportunities to discuss end-of-life choices and community approaches to grief before a crisis occurs. Bonita’s work is inclusive and respectful of diverse identities, and acknowledges the enduring connection of First Nations people to their lands, waters, skies and culture.
