Debug is a brand that is committed to stopping the spread of disease by using technology to raise and release good mosquitoes. By combining scientific and engineering expertise with international partnerships, Debug aims to combat disease-carrying mosquitoes effectively. They utilize a technique called the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT), which involves raising sterile male mosquitoes and releasing them into wild insect populations.

When these sterile males mate with wild females, their eggs do not hatch, leading to a reduction in the mosquito population over time. Debug is working on developing new technologies to rear and separate male mosquitoes efficiently. They are building automated rearing systems and using sensors, algorithms, and novel engineering to identify and separate males from females.

This ensures that only sterile males, which cannot spread disease, are released into the wild. Debug also focuses on continuous monitoring and targeted releases to eliminate bad bugs effectively. Their first target is Aedes aegypti, the mosquito responsible for transmitting diseases like dengue, Zika, yellow fever, and chikungunya.
