Users can upload a template, add a searchable name and tags, and link a Hive account to receive on-chain beneficiary rewards whenever the template is used in a post or comment. Approved templates become available through embedded widgets on participating Hive frontends, where users can browse templates, add text, and use the finished meme in their content.

The service distributes a share of eligible rewards automatically: creator, submitter, and embedding frontend percentages vary by post or comment. Submitters can earn even when they are not the original creator, while the creator’s share is held until ownership is verified and claimed. Creators can also claim held rewards retroactively. Submissions support JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP images up to 8 MB, which are uploaded to Hive’s image network rather than stored on decentmemes’ servers.
