About Decoy Museum
Welcome to The HdG Decoy Museum, located on the stunning banks of the historic Susquehanna Flats. Our museum is home to one of the most impressive collections of working and decorative Chesapeake Bay decoys ever assembled. Established in 1986 as a non-profit institution, our mission is to preserve the rich history and cultural legacy of waterfowling and decoy making in the Chesapeake Bay.
Decoys have played a central role in Chesapeake culture for centuries, initially created solely for the purpose of luring waterfowl within range of hunters. These humble wooden representations have now evolved into highly prized works of art. Today, our museum showcases the remarkable craftsmanship and century-old skills of contemporary carvers, passing down their talent from master to apprentice over generations.
We invite you to visit The HdG Decoy Museum, where you can immerse yourself in the art of decoy making and learn about the waterfowling traditions that have earned Havre de Grace the prestigious title of the Decoy Capital of the World! Join us as we celebrate this captivating art form and the rich history it embodies
