Deer Aware

Deer Aware is a dedicated organization focused on addressing the significant issue of deer-related traffic incidents in the UK and beyond. With the alarming statistics indicating tens of thousands of deer are killed or injured on roads each year, Deer Aware aims to raise awareness and promote safety measures for both wildlife and road users. The organization engages in extensive research, collaborating with governmental bodies like Highways England and Scottish Natural Heritage to create a national system for recording and monitoring deer-vehicle collisions. This initiative seeks to build a comprehensive database that will aid in understanding the factors associated with these accidents and in developing effective mitigation strategies.

In addition to research, Deer Aware provides safety advice, publications, and insights on how the public can contribute to reducing these incidents. The organization also educates on the behavior of deer and promotes wildlife safety measures such as wildlife reflectors and driver's awareness campaigns. Through its partnership efforts and community engagement, Deer Aware works tirelessly to create safer roads for both deer and humans alike.
