Ministerio Defensa

The Ministry of Defence of Spain is the government department responsible for national defence and the country’s Armed Forces. Based in Madrid, it provides information about defence policy, military leadership, budgets, procurement, statistics and Spain’s participation in international security organisations. The ministry oversees the Army, Navy, Air and Space Force, Military Emergency Unit and other joint services, and reports on their activities and missions at home and abroad.

Its public-facing services include information on military careers, civilian employment opportunities, voluntary reservist enrolment, flag-swearing ceremonies, defence delegations and pension matters. The ministry also supports access to defence libraries, museums, archives, publications and the Spanish Defence Review. Its website offers news, press releases, multimedia, public information and electronic services, alongside contact details and guidance for film and television production requests.

Coverage highlights Spain’s international commitments, military exercises, communications and technology, healthcare, and events involving service personnel. Through these resources, the ministry informs the public about the work of the Armed Forces and makes institutional information and selected services accessible to citizens.
