DefensePro

DefensePro is a self-defense and emergency-preparedness provider offering practical training for individuals, families, schools, and businesses. Founded in 2007, the organization is led by Chief Instructor John Wyek, a sixth-degree black belt and seven-time taekwondo champion who has trained law enforcement officers and military personnel. DefensePro’s approach combines awareness and decision-making skills with physical techniques to help participants avoid trouble, respond to threats, and escape attackers.

Services include one-on-one private lessons, small-group training, and age-appropriate self-defense classes for children, teenagers, and senior citizens. The organization also offers programs for college-bound students, business safety evaluations and training, school emergency-preparedness instruction and supplies, and defensive strategies for teachers. Lessons are generally held at clients’ locations, with ongoing taekwondo classes in Novato’s Hamilton area. DefensePro has also delivered exercise and self-defense programs at schools and universities. Its training emphasizes practical skills, confidence, and looking out for others, helping participants prepare for everyday situations as well as emergencies. Individual lessons are available as focused instruction or refresher training.
