Defiende Venezuela is a team of human rights defenders dedicated to effectively denouncing human rights violations committed in Venezuela to the Inter-American System. With a mission to promote and defend human rights in Venezuela, they raise awareness about the Inter-American System of Human Rights and utilize its mechanisms for protection. The current situation in Venezuela is characterized by violence, overpopulation in prisons, scarcity, inflation, political prisoners, and restrictions on freedom of expression and the right to protest.

However, these violations have not been effectively reported to international protection mechanisms, mainly due to lack of awareness. Shockingly, the organization received only 53 reports of human rights violations against Venezuela, despite it being in the midst of the worst human rights crisis in the region. Defiende Venezuela aims to change this by increasing the number of denunciations of human rights violations, raising awareness among citizens about the Inter-American System, and ultimately strengthening the democratic system in Venezuela.
