The story begins in 1939, when Sir De Villiers Graaff proposed to his beloved Ena on a small hill overlooking the ocean and the city of Cape Town.
This hill, now famously known as Proposal Hill, holds a special place in their hearts and became the inspiration behind De Grendel's celebratory Cap Classique. With a clear view from the Tygerberg hills, the young couple's love story endured through a World War, political turmoil, and apartheid-era politics, lasting a remarkable 60 years. The legacy of their love and the noble title they held continues to inspire De Grendel today.
