De Jonge Akademie (The Young Academy) is a Dutch platform of fifty engaged academics working to strengthen the future of science. It promotes the value of scientific research and seeks to improve the science system, with particular attention to the experiences and needs of early-career researchers. Its members bring together expertise from a wide range of disciplines and contribute to public and professional discussions about research, education, academic culture and society.
The organisation researches issues affecting academia, offers advice, shares knowledge and creates opportunities for people to connect. Recent initiatives have explored researchers’ mental wellbeing, PhD supervision, the future of doctoral education and ways to encourage interdisciplinary exchange.
