The National Decade Against Cancer is an initiative spearheaded by Germany's Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), bringing together key stakeholders to enhance cancer research for the benefit of patients. This collaborative effort aims to advance scientific understanding and treatment of cancer, ensuring comprehensive support for affected individuals. The initiative hosts a range of activities, including conferences, podcasts, and research projects, focusing on various cancer types such as multiple myeloma, affecting around 7,000 new patients annually, and children's cancers, with specialized centers like KiTZ developing tailored therapies.

In addition to research, the initiative emphasizes active patient participation in both the research process and care delivery, empowering patients and promoting informed decision-making. The National Decade Against Cancer encourages collaboration among hospitals, research institutions, and support organizations, welcoming stakeholders to become partners in this crucial mission.
