De Kajuitzangers is a vibrant shanty choir based in Putten, established in 2002 by passionate watersport enthusiasts from the local marina. Originally part of the Watersport Vereniging Nulde, the choir gained independence in 2008 and has since grown to approximately 50 singers and seven dedicated musicians under the direction of conductor Theo Regtien. Known for their engaging performances, the Kajuitzangers participate in around 12 to 15 events annually, showcasing their love for traditional sea shanties and sailor songs.
Their repertoire spans lively shanties that reflect maritime history and culture, making them a beloved act at regional festivals and events. In addition to performances, the choir offers opportunities for community engagement and supports charitable causes. With a strong social media presence, the Kajuitzangers not only entertain but also invite supporters to join their musical journey, enhancing celebrations from birthdays to anniversaries with their unforgettable performances.
Their latest CD, featuring popular sing-along tracks, is available for purchase, adding to their growing legacy in the world of shanty music
